Hi, my name is Darren Robb and I live in Derry/Londonderry. I'm 47 years old and I started this journey in March 2011 when I was diagnosed with neck cancer.
I had to go to theatre in the Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry as soon as possible as it was likely to spread and get bigger. I was having difficulty breathing and swallowing, if I had come forward earlier it may not have been so traumatic.
After my recovery period from the operation, I had 32 sessions of radiation treatment. I was only one of dozens. This is where I met John Stewart.
He was a young, happy guy who never complained, he had a brain tumour and was also getting radiation treatment.
We were all in the same boat and made friends. Many of this gang are not with us today.
John was an inspiration to us all and sadly lost his battle on 9th February 2014 at the young age of 24. This Sailing Ireland fundraising event is dedicated to the memory of John Stewart, "a fine big man."
Please help me raise money for MacMillan, thank you for your support.
