Saturday Outing to Belfast

On Saturday evening 10th May, Darren and Sarah, travelled to Belfast for a Macmillan fundraising event things finally got underway at 9 pm the manager in Europa gave us a huge reception we met some wonderful people and shared our experiences with Macmillan on our recovery journey.

We would like to thank especially the manager of the Europa Hotel for putting up with us and introducing us to the patrons in his hotel ,on our way home at midnight back to Derry a huge thanks for the many donations from people who saw the great need of Macmillan and the work they do on a day to day basis. £465 was raised for Macmillan.

Most of the pizza went to the homeless people on the streets

When I said we should share a pizza...... Sara had no idea what 24" was the waitress recommended it ,I returned from the toilet to be met by the mother of all pizzas our wee dog Tobin lost out on this occasion as the homeless guy begging outside got a good feed .It was quite sad to see so many people begging on the streets a reminder of things to come in this recession.
